could they both be corrupt? | No, I doubt it. No one has been able to give me much information about what they're running for OS and compression program when this happens. Someone once said they were trying to use WinZIP -- I never use WinZIP, I use the built-in ZIP functionality in XP. Try it again without WinZIP.
BTW: Besides the XP ZIP functionality, Linux Ark works well. If everything else doesn't work, you can download from Sourceforge (and it's many mirrors).
BBTW: I figured out the problem, it occurs with IE only, as a work around, right click and use "save target as".
